Bill Maher has Finally Found Religion in the Anthropogenic Global Warming Theory

By J. Edward Nelson

I’ve been waiting for political satirist Bill Maher to comment on Global Warming since the Climate-Gate scandal broke a few weeks before the Copenhagen Summit. For those of you who missed this story, thousands of emails from the leading scientists whose research provides the foundation for the Global Warming theory – also referred to as “Climate Change” – were retrieved by a hacker and subsequently posted to the internet. The emails revealed, among other game changing developments, that global temperature data had been manipulated, or outright fabricated, in order to fit the anthropogenic (man-made) Global Warming theory most commonly associated with the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit.

Maher is well-known for being against organized religion, as his documentary film “Religulous” clearly shows. He has on numerous occasions admonished followers of organized religion for having blind faith in religious dogma, specifically referring to Christians as believing in a “talking snake.”

And although I personally agree with many of his views concerning religion, he sounds eerily similar to the “religious fanatics” that he is so fond of belittling when he argues in favor of the Global Warming theory on the March 12th episode of Realtime With Bill Maher.

In a verbal exchange with panelist Amy Holmes – a conservative political analyst – in which she admits to being a Global Warming skeptic, making reference to the hacked emails (which the scientists themselves admit to being authentic) in order to validate her skepticism, Maher responds by calling Climate-Gate a “red herring.” He further says that Global Warming is still “settled science” and condescendingly asks Holmes, “You’re smart, you don’t smoke the pot… How is it that I can see this and you can’t?”

Maher makes his argument with an air of infallibility, without referencing a single source in order to refute the Climate-Gate scandal – which went viral over the internet – or Global Warming skepticism. How can Global Warming be considered “settled science” when the temperature data has been admittedly corrupted?

The tarnished reputation of the scientists responsible for the worldwide acceptance of the Global Warming theory, following Climate-Gate, has not deterred Maher’s fervent belief in their questionable theories. He appears content never to question the voracity of Global Warming, even if it’s based on falsified data.

His apparent “blind faith” in the man-made (anthropogenic) Global Warming theory and his unwillingness to give any credence to opposing views, as the brief debate with Holmes clearly denotes, in spite of credible evidence to the contrary, is reminiscent of individuals who blindly follow religious dogma, adamantly against analyzing any aspect of their core religious beliefs.

Congratulations Bill, you’ve become one of the “fanatics” you so despise.

Why are you talking over the story- ad hominen garbage Bill.Climategate was forecast…

“What is the current scientific consensus on the conclusions reached by Drs. Mann, Bradley and Hughes? [Referring to the hockey stick propagated in UN IPCC 2001 by Michael Mann and debunked by McIntyre and McKitrick in 2003.]

Ans: Based on the literature we have reviewed, there is no overarching consensus on MBH98/99. As analyzed in our social network, there is a tightly knit group of individuals who passionately believe in their thesis. However, our perception is that this group has a self-reinforcing feedback mechanism and, moreover, the work has been sufficiently politicized that they can hardly reassess their public positions without losing credibility.”

Celebrity science is the ultimate oxymoron…

“If we regard the fulfilment of our purpose as contingent upon any circumstances, past, present or future, we are not making use of first cause, we have descended to the level of secondary causation, which is the region of doubts, fears and limitations, all of which we are impressing upon the universal subjective mind, with the inevitable result that it will build up corresponding external conditions.”

    Thomas Troward,
Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science 1904

I am quoting Troward because the current political climate of junk science zeitgeist is madness, or at least crazy making. History tells us that prosperity advances at the pace inflation permits.. A steady increase in the money supply leads to higher prices and wages to measure them, and more people able to participate. Adjusted for inflation, copper, iron, oil, and gas, e.g., are not much more expensive than they were in the early 20th century, and we have more supply available and more people have electricity and transportation. There are no shortages of resources; only the cautionary principle keeps resources from being elevated to economic reserves. The bleak Dickensian world has gotten a great deal smaller as the ‘American Dream’ expanded to Asia. The environmental impact also, adjusted for inflation, is less and society has generally progressed, as is reflected in human lifespan in the west.
