Do our Political Leaders Lack Empathy or Competence?
Posted by: | Comments
It may never cease to amaze me personally at how knowledgeable Congressman Ron Paul is on a number of issues, and how equally underutilized he is as a resource by the legislative branch of our government.
Case in point, below is an article written by Dr. Paul (who practiced medicine prior to being elected to the House) which was posted on LewRockwell.com in 2006. The health care reform debate had already reached a fever pitch throughout the country by this point because of escalating health care costs, and the nearly 14,000 annual deaths attributed to lack of health insurance in America.

In a ten minute segment on CNN’s Larry King Live, Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) was given the program’s nationally televised audience as a platform in order to respond to the allegation that capitalism has failed in America, made by renowned documentary film maker Michael Moore through his latest film, Capitalism: A Love Story.
Congressman Paul, well known as a staunch advocate of free market principles, states rather simply in the interview that capitalism has not failed the American people, as Moore’s movie contends. Naming instead ”corporatism” as the source of our current economic turmoil, which has resulted in record levels of unemployment since the fall of 2008.

The GOP has been expectantly critical of the Obama Administration since officially relinquishing the White House in late January 2009. The most divisive issue to date being health care reform.
Surprisingly, costly legislation like Obama’s Economic Stimulus Package was met with lukewarm resistance by Republican leadership on Capitol Hill.
My opinion of the current Administration after almost a year in the White House is that there is minimal variance in the substance of its foreign and domestic policies when compared to its predecessor, and I am not alone in my assessment.

In a society which subsidizes the cost of prescription drugs for the rest of the world by being charged substantially more for pharmaceuticals THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY, you would think that terminally ill patients in America suffering through debilitating diseases which have no cure, would be afforded the unfettered option of being prescribed any therapeutic approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which they and their doctors mutually agreed upon.

MSNBC Is Apparently Against Free Market Economics
Posted by: | Comments
The August 7, 2009 episode of MSNBC’s the ED show, in which Lawrence O’Donnell guest hosts and interviews Euro Pacific Capital CEO and free market economist Peter Schiff, is as shameless a display of a program host perpetually interrupting a guest as I have seen since…Chris Matthews interviewing ANYONE who disagrees with increased government involvement in the health insurance industry.

Is Health Care Reform Legislation Justified Cause for Concern?
Posted by: | Comments
Proposed Congressional health care reform legislation, H.R. 3200, supported by the White House, is currently over a thousand pages in length, knee-deep in legalese, with an annual budget of $104.2 billion. The bloated proportions of this proposed legislation (among other things) has some politicians, bloggers and a cross-section of the American populace up in arms. With more than a few vocal constituents angrily expressing frustration and concern at town-hall meetings.
Does the excessive length and convoluted language of this particular bill, compounded by the daunting size of its budget, justify at least some of this concern?

Chris Matthews Has Officially Become The “Bill O’Reilly” Of MSNBC
Posted by: | Comments
Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball, has ceased being a serious network news figure and become the cartoonishly vigilant attack dog of proposed health care reform legislation, currently known as H.R. 3200.
Every time Matthews moderates a segment on this proposed legislation, it follows the same basic format: He’ll typically have two guests, one for and one against, and the dissenter (predictably) is not afforded the professionalism or civility one would expect on a network news program.

I get annoyed every time I hear a network news anchor refer to N. Korea as a “rogue nation.” It makes me wonder, “do they have any idea where they live?” You would think that people who make a living reporting the news might actually read it every now and again.
Kim Jong-il, the dictator of this so-called rogue nation, granted amnesty to the American journalists convicted of illegally entering into N. Korea while investigating human trafficking. They were detained by the N. Korean government for a total of 40 days.
